Committee service also offers an excellent opportunity for developing contacts and increasing professional networking. The 2024 AAEA Room Block is OPEN Guest Rooms for Single/Double $179 per room per night 2024 Registration Rates Registration for the 2024 AAEA Annual Meeting (as well as registration for Luncheons & Pre-/Post-conference Workshops) will be open in March 2024.
*Guests include any interested party not professionally in or a student of the fields of agricultural or applied economics, or a related discipline. Guest fees include the welcome reception, plenary sessions, and all concurrent sessions (Guests under the age of 16 are free, and don’t need to register). *Cancellation: Cancellations of meeting registrations are subject to a $50 processing fee. After July 5, no refunds will be given for meeting registrations or special event tickets. If AAEA cancels the meeting any paid meeting registration fees will be fully refunded. 2024 AAEA Annual Meeting Open Calls May 24, 2024 AAEA Teaching Academy Saturday, July 27, 2024, 8 am to 5 pm We are excited to offer the first AAEA Teaching Academy to enhance teaching in our profession. Our goal is to provide consistent efforts across our discipline to offer dedicated teacher training and mentoring of teacher development for students and early career professionals. The academy is designed to benefit all members of our profession, including graduate students, early career professionals, faculty, and others. We invite all members who are interested in advancing teaching skills to participant. To learn more about registration and travel grant opportunities visit the webpage: https://www.aetrjournal.org/teaching-academy Teaching Academy Steering Committee Na Zuo, Jason Bergtold, Hannah Shear, Jennifer Clark, Ross Pruitt, Rui Chen, Jerrod Penn, and Kathleen Liang Call for submissions: AAEA invited paper sessions at the 2025 ASSA Annual Meeting President-Elect Tim Beatty is soliciting proposals and suggestions for AAEA invited paper sessions at the 2025 Allied Social Sciences Association (ASSA) Annual Meeting in San Francisco, CA, January 3-5, 2025. The objective of AAEA sessions at the ASSA Annual Meeting is to share new knowledge of interest to economists. The AAEA encourages sessions that will draw widely from ASSA attendees, including sessions jointly sponsored with other ASSA member associations. International Workshop on Survey Design and Experimental Methods in Applied and Agricultural Economics Michigan State University- May 20 to May 24, 2024 – Exciting updates Announcing the early-bird registration for the International Workshop on “Survey Design and Experimental Methods in Applied and Agricultural Economics” has been extended until March 15, 2024. Seats are limited, and registration is based on a first come, first served basis. Call For Student Representatives The AAEA/ERS Cooperative Agreement Committee is seeking applications for student representatives to join of faculty, staff and government and industry stakeholders working to implement its primary goal of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives within the association and discipline. Among its other aims, the committee’s specific student-oriented objectives include (a) expanding the number of students from historically underrepresented groups pursuing advanced degrees and careers in agricultural and applied economics; and (b) ensuring that students have the support, resources, and skills to succeed academically and pursue careers in research, government or industry. Call for Applications for Editor for Applied Economics Teaching Resources The AAEA Board is seeking applications for a co-editor of Applied Economics Teaching Resources (AETR). The co-editor will further the journal’s strategic goals, manage publications, enhance teaching and Extension education scholarship opportunities in the profession, promote innovations in teaching and Extension education methods, and expand the AETR Online Teaching Database. Applications should be sent electronically in a single document to Allison Ware, at aware@aaea.org by Friday, March 1, 2024. Third-party nominations of potentially interested candidates who can then be solicited for their materials are also welcome. Call for Applications: Managing Editor of the Applied Economics Perspectives and Policy The AAEA Executive Board invites applications for one Managing Editor for Applied Economics Perspectives and Policy (AEPP). The degree to which candidate’s expertise complements that of the continuing editors, will be considered in the selection process. AAEA is particularly interested in candidates who will bring ideas and innovations for helping AEPP to further its mission. Call for Applications Editorship of the Applied Economics Perspectives and Policy The AAEA Executive Board invites applications for one editor for Applied Economics Perspectives and Policy (AEPP) to serve from 2024 through 2026. This call for applications is for an editor to manage Submitted Articles which contain original research results addressing real-world problems with sound research approaches and/or have strong policy relevance within the subject matter of the journal. The degree to which candidate’s expertise complements that of the continuing editors, will be considered in the selection process. The AAEA is particularly interested in candidates who will bring ideas and innovations for helping AEPP to further its mission. Applications should be sent electronically via PDF to Kristen McGuire, Executive Director, at kmcguire@aaea.org by Special Issue: Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics Use in the Classroom and Academy Applied Economics and Teaching Resources is calling for manuscripts about use of artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics in undergraduate and graduate education in the classroom and across the academy. Submissions of case studies, teaching and extension scholarship and research, educational innovations and methods, extension education innovations and methods, and commentaries about use of artificial intelligence, including use of large language models (LLMs) and platforms, such as ChatGPT, Bing AI, Bard, amongst other, and data analytics in undergraduate and graduate education, extension education, and other learning venues in institutions of higher learning. This special issue is open to a wide array of topics related to artificial intelligence and data analytics across the agricultural and applied economics and agribusiness and management economics disciplines. Topics may include but are not limited to innovative use of AI and data analytics in the classroom; innovative data analytic teaching modules and teaching case studies; teaching case studies about the impact of AI on agriculture, the agricultural industry and society; ethical and academic concerning the use of AI in the academy; assessments of AI for different learning outcomes and tasks; and use of AI and data analytics in extension education programming. The deadline for submissions has been extended to June 30, 2024. Call for Applications: 2024 Heading North Award Applications are now invited for the 2024 Heading North award. The Australasian Agricultural and Resource Economics Society (AARES) and the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association (AAEA) through the AAEA Trust will jointly offer this travel award to members of AARES or AAEA normally resident in Australia or New Zealand. Other News Call for Posters The Farm Financial Standards Council invites all Students, Instructors, and Industry Professionals to prepare Posters for presentation during the Council’s 2024 Annual Conference which will be held July 24 - 26 in Louisville, KY. VIII Beeronomics Conference The 2024 Beeronomics Conference will take place at University of Milan Bicocca, Italy, 19-22 June. Main panels and sessions will be held at the University of Bicocca main campus located in the heart of the city. The Conference Organising Committee, led by Christian Garavaglia, welcomes all high-quality research on the economics of beer and brewing. This workshop is motivated by the need to better understand the implications of increasing climate variability for the resilience of communities in the United States, acknowledging that implications can be either direct, such as the impacts of negative shock events on individuals and communities where they occur, or indirect, such as impacts on communities connected or adjacent to those experiencing shocks. |
