President's Column J Denver bound. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in Denver in just a few days. The Annual meetings are an opportunity to gather as a community, see old friends, make connections, and get excited about new ideas. We have a great lineup of plenary speakers. Johan Swinnen will be giving the Gordon Rausser Keynote Address "Transforming Food Systems in Times of Global Disorder." President-Elect Brian Roe will be presenting the Presidential Address "De Gustibus Est Disputandum: The Role of Agricultural and Applied Economists in an Era of Behavior Change Initiatives and Endogenous Preferences." This year the Fellows Address is being given by Madhu Khanna who will be presenting on the "Economics of Land-Based Carbon Mitigation." Finally, Gordon Rausser is this year's Galbraith Forum speaker and will be reflecting on "The Curation of Smart Governments: A Personal Journey." AAEA News
Attendees of the AAEA & WAEA Joint Annual Meeting will want to access all of the meeting details and information included in the meeting app. Download Whova from your app store then search for “AAEA 2025.” Please note that there is no “invitation code” for the app. The email address that you registered for the Annual Meeting will be your access into the app. *This is the same app as last year with a new event. Cancellations: Cancellations of meeting registrations are subject to a $50 processing fee. After July 3, no refunds will be given for meeting registrations or special event tickets. AAEA’s Annual Business Meeting will be held during the annual meeting in Denver, CO on Monday, July 28 in the Plaza Court ABC at the Sheraton Denver Downtown. This meeting gives members the chance to hear about the state of the association. Updates will be given by the AAEA President, the Finance Committee, and the AAEA Trust Committee. Additionally, Board members and Editors who are completing their terms will be recognized for their service. Lastly, those in attendance will be given an opportunity to voice any questions or concerns that they may have. We hope you’ll join us in Denver. 2025 Plenary Sessions Sheraton Denver Downtown
Transportation from Denver International Airport At a cost of $10 each way, travelers can use the A Line to get from the airport to downtown Denver and vice versa, courtesy of the Regional Transportation District (RTD), metro Denver's public transit provider. The A Line, which opened on April 22, 2016, whisks travelers to the heart of downtown, specifically Denver Union Station. From Union Station, travelers can access additional local and regional transportation services, such as light rail, regional and local buses, Amtrak rail service, taxis and the free 16th Street Mall shuttle (MallRide) and free downtown MetroRide buses that provide access to most downtown hotels. Working with the Media AAEA members are invited to attend an interactive session on engaging with the media. Journalists will share how and when they incorporate expert perspectives into their stories, helping researchers better understand the media process. Participants will also hear from AAEA members who have experience serving as expert sources and can offer practical advice on preparing for interviews. If you are interested in communicating your research to broader audiences or learning more about how media engagement works, this session will provide useful guidance and examples. AAEA is committed to the fair, ethical treatment of all of its members and all other individuals participating in AAEA activities or activities connected with, or related to, AAEA activities, while providing an atmosphere that promotes a variety of research, teaching and extension/outreach activities.
