Plenary Speakers Headlining the 2020 AAEA Virtual Meeting

The Agricultural & Applied Economics Assocaiton (AAEA) invites you to attend the 2020 AAEA Virtual Meeting and view the plenary speakers in four separate live presenations with interactive discussions. Media and press are invited to attend any concurrent session, or plenary session with a complimentary media registration.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, AAEA decided to cancel the in-person 2020 AAEA Annual Meeting, and will be hosting all sessions virtually. All Plenary Sessions will be presented live, and then along with all other sessions, will be available online and on-demand for up to 1 year.

The Gordon Rausser Keynote Address features an expert panel discussing their perspectives on the economics of sustainability. “Sustainability: The Interface of Food, Agriculture, and the Environment” will take place on August 10 at 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM CDT. The panalists include:

  • Shari Rogge-Fidler, Farm Foundation
  • Sally J. Rockey, Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research
  • Elena Irwin, The Ohio State University
  • Emily Johannes, Nestlé USA

Dawn Thilmany McFadden from Colorado State University will give her Presidential Address on "Rebalancing OUR Portfolio: Envisioning a more Inclusive, Altruistic and Engaged AAEA" on August 10 at 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM CDT.

On August 11 at 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM CDT, Chris Barrett from Cornell University will be giving the Fellows Address on “Overcoming Global Food Security Challenges through Science and Solidarity.”

Wrapping up the meeting will be Dani Rodrik from Harvard University, presenting the Galbraith Forum on “Did Globalization Fail us?” happening on August 11 at 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM CDT.
