AAEA Hires Representation in Washington D.C.

Randel Group named AAEAs government relations representative

AAEA is excited to announce that The Randel Group, LLC will serve as the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association (AAEA)’s representation in Washington, D.C.

Founded by Lowell Randel, The Randel Group, LLC is a full service firm decicated to providing tools to success in working with the federal government.

Lowell previously served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Congressional Relations at the USDA. His responsibilities in the role included development and implementation of the USDA’s legislative strategy pertaining to the 2007, and 2008 Farm Bill, as well as helping with implementation of the bill after its passage. Randel also held the position of Director of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs for the Research, Educations and Economics Mission Area.

Priot to USDA, Lowell worked as a Senior Associate for Meyers and Associates, a Washington based government relations firm. In this role he focused on agriculture and science policy and assisted clients in working with Congress and the Administration.  In addition to federal government experience, Lowell worked at the state level with the Texas Department of Agriculture.

Lowell holds a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics, as well as a Master’s degree in agricultural development from Texas A&M Universityand a law degree from George Mason University School of Law.

Randel says, “I am excited work on behalf of AAEA and engage with policy makers about the importance of agricultural and applied economics.  AAEA represents a wealth of expertise across a wide range of issues being considered by Congress and the Administration.  I look forward to helping make those connections and advancing the priorities of the association .”
