Submit a Fellows Nomination

Call for Nominations
2026 Fellows Award

The Fellows Selection Committee is inviting nominations for election to the 2026 class of Fellows of the AAEA. Nomination statements are due by Friday, October 3, 2025. Selection is based on the candidate’s continuous contribution to the advancement of agricultural or applied economics as defined by the Vision Statement of the AAEA, including achievements in research, teaching, extension, administration, and business. The nominee must be a member of AAEA and have been a member for at least five years.

Nomination statements are limited to a maximum of eight double-spaced pages using 12-point font and with margins of at least one inch on all four sides. Please include the name, email and institution of all nominators at the top of the first page, and submit the document as a single PDF file to Jeanne Rhodes at jrhodes@aaea.org by October 3, 2025. Please contact Jeanne if you have any questions.

A nomination package should explain how and why the nominee’s achievements warrant recognition as a Fellow, through exceptional work in agricultural and applied economics over the candidate’s entire career, in contrast to a specific accomplishment that might be rewarded by an outstanding journal article, extension, or teaching award. Exceptional impact may occur through research discoveries, extension programs, teaching and mentorship, or institutional leadership, and may involve synergies between different professional activities over time.

Nomination statements are submitted by one or more nominators and typically include testimonial quotes from a range of colleagues in diverse roles across the profession, including others previously elected as Fellows and leaders of AAEA. Those endorsements typically complement a narrative summary of the candidate’s accomplishments and contributions to agricultural and applied economics. Members of the Fellows Selection Committee and the AAEA Executive Committee (comprised of the President-Elect, President, or Past President) may not nominate or provide support statements for nominees.

The 2026 Fellows Recognition Ceremony will be held as part of the 2026 AAEA Annual Meeting in Kansas City, MO. Information on previous AAEA Fellows and the procedures used to select Fellows is available on the AAEA Fellows page: https://www.aaea.org/about-aaea/awards-and-honors/aaea-fellows.
