Call for Applications
Editor for Applied Economics Education and Extension

The AAEA Board is seeking applications for a third co-editor of Applied Economics Education and Extension (AEEE, formerly Applied Economic Teaching Resources). The co-editor will further the journal’s strategic goals, manage publications, enhance teaching and Extension scholarship opportunities in the profession, and promote innovations in teaching and Extension education methods. The co-editor will be instrumental in the expansion of the journal’s scope to include a new Issues Section that will actively seek to attract and expand on content (individual articles and thematic collections) that previously appeared in Choices including authoritative, non-technical overviews, reviews, and analysis of emerging applied economic issues and topics suitable for use in education, industry, extension and outreach settings.

AEEE Announcement

Starting April 1, 2026, Applied Economic Teaching Resources (AETR) officially becomes Applied Economics Education and Extension (AEEE). This follows the restructuring of the journal approved by the AAEA Executive Board. The journal's webpage (aeeejournal.org) and submission system have been updated. The new website is aeeejournal.org. You can also reach it through aetrjournal.org.

With the merger of Choices with AEEE and AEPP, the journal will carry on the legacy of Choices through its new article type: Applied Economic Insights. These submissions cover national and international applied economics issues related to education, teaching, extension, outreach, and industry. The submissions are authoritative, nontechnical analyses, overviews, and reviews of emerging and highly relevant topics for stakeholders, educators, policymakers, and the general public. Submissions should be suitable for use in education, extension, and/or outreach settings. Potential topics areas include food, agricultural production, natural resources, energy, rural community, agribusiness and industry, education, extension, and international issues. Applied Economic Insight submissions follow the tradition of Choices articles. We plan to market and distribute these articles in a similar fashion as Choices and explore additional distribution channels. You can find more information in the submission guidelines for authors and guidelines for writing Applied Economics Insight submissions.

AEEE continues the traditions of AETR, accepting research articles that include teaching and Extension education scholarship, teaching and Extension education methods, teaching case studies, and commentaries. We will continue tracking usage statistics for teaching methods and case study articles and report that back to authors each year. In addition, our scope will also expand to include all original research on education and extension; submissions on broader extension and outreach methods; teaching and training case studies for extension and industry training; and commentaries on extension and outreach.

Please find more details on our webpage and explore our submission guidelines for authors.

We look forward to receiving submissions starting April 1, 2026. You can submit a manuscript here.

Please email editors Jason Bergtold (bergtold@ksu.edu) or Na Zuo (nazuo@arizona.edu) for questions or inquiries.

American Journal of Agricultural Economics (AJAE)
Pre?Results Review (PRR)

PRR allows authors to submit their research before results are known, at the stage when the research question, study design, data strategy, and pre?analysis plan are fully developed. Under this model, papers are evaluated on the importance of the research question and the soundness of the proposed methodology, rather than the direction or statistical significance of eventual findings.

This option is open to the full breadth of work published in AJAE, including research on the economics of agriculture and food, natural resources and the environment, and rural and community development throughout the world. PRR is particularly valuable for projects involving field experiments, randomized interventions, prospective data collection, or restricted?access data.

Authors whose Stage 1 submissions receive conditional acceptance can proceed with data collection or acquisition knowing their research design has the journal’s approval. Once the study is completed, they submit a final manuscript along with documentation of any deviations from their original plan. If the study was carried out as proposed, publication normally follows.

AJAE’s PRR pathway is modeled after the approach used by the Journal of Development Economics and is designed to enhance research transparency, reduce publication bias, and support rigorous empirical work across the fields represented by AAEA.

Full author guidelines and a Stage 1 proposal template are available https://www.aaea.org/publications/ajae/ajae-pre-results-review. Members are encouraged to consider PRR for upcoming projects that would benefit from early peer feedback and design validation. For questions see the Q&A or contact co-Editor Nick Magnan at nick.magnan@colostate.edu.
