These activities continue to connect all of us and move the profession forward – thank you!

We look forward to providing continued support as you make positive differences within the Agricultural and Applied Economic fields. Your membership and involvement makes AAEA what it is, and we appreciate the dedication of your time and talents to our field and the Association.

Special Issue on Educational Materials About Industry and Market Developments

Applied Economics and Teaching Resources is calling for manuscripts that fit into Extension Education, Case Studies, and Interdisciplinary Narratives relating to innovative and impactful ways of:

  • Communicating industry and market developments,
  • Evaluating government and private programmatic impacts and delivery, and
  • Training and learning methodologies in industry and non-governmental organizations.

Senate Agriculture Committee Holds Farm Bill Hearing on Agriculture Research
On December 6th, the Senate Agriculture Committee held a hearing entitled: Farm Bill 2023: Research Programs.  The hearing is part of the committee’s ongoing process to prepare for the next Farm Bill.  Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Ranking Member John Boozman (R-AR) gave opening statements, both of which highlighted the importance of agriculture research as critical to future success. Multiple Senators and witnesses remarked that the United States is falling behind countries like China in relation to federal investment in agriculture research. It is encouraging that bipartisan support for agricultural research was expressed throughout the hearing.  There was also recognition by witnesses of the significant need to invest in research infrastructure. Work by the Economic Research Service was cited numerous times, reinforcing the importance of economic research. Another key theme was the need for new innovations to help producers feed a growing global population in a sustainable and economically feasible way.

AEA/CSWEP Panel at ASSA 2023: Sexual Harassment in the Economics Profession: Lessons Learned and the Way Forward

We write to inform you of an important panel CSWEP is co-hosting with the American Economic Association at the 2023 ASSA meeting in New Orleans on sexual harassment in the economics profession. The panel will be on Friday, January 6, 2023, from 10:15 AM – 12:15 PM CST in Grand Salon A, Sections 3 and 6 at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside. It will also be live-streamed.

Workshop in “Survey Design & Experimental Methods in Applied and Agricultural Economics”

The workshop will cover theoretical and practical knowledge regarding surveys and experimental methods. In addition, delegates will be familiarized with state-of-the-art software, and will design their own practice experiment through hands-on training.
