Three AAEA Members Elected to Association’s Leadership

Thilmany McFadden, Beatty, and Irwin join AAEA Executive Board at 2019 AAEA Annual Meeting

After a month of voting, AAEA has named a new member to their Executive Committee. Dawn Thilmany McFadden from Colorado State University will be the incoming President-Elect for the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association’s (AAEA).

Thilmany McFadden says, “Given the growing complexity of agricultural, food and natural resource management and policy issues, I would like to see even more diversity of topics in our publications, annual meetings and professional workshops. These activities can draw on the strength of our members and the active sections that encourage members to collaborate on relevant focus issues and areas such as food and nutrition, Extension, community economic development.”

Joining the Board of Directors this year are Tim Beatty from the University of California, Davis, along with Elena Irwin from The Ohio State University.

Beatty says, “I ran for the board because the AAEA has been my professional home for the last 20 years. I was honored to be elected by my peers.”

Irwin is excited to, “work towards a clear statement of the inclusive values that our association holds and be purposeful about infusing these values into all that the association does..”

Rotating off the AAEA Board of Directors after a three-year term are Jeffrey Dorfman from the University of Georgia and Madhu Khanna from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
