Brief Description
The AAEA Mentorship Committee proposes a Pre-Conference Mentoring Workshop to kick off a year-long mentoring program designed to foster meaningful and continuing mentoring relationships among early career members, their peers, and senior members of the association.
Relevance to AAEA Members/Meeting Attendees
Specifically, the workshop and subsequent networking opportunities will foster early career professional development, broaden participation in AAEA across the year, and broaden the horizons of the current membership. By recruiting a diverse set of mentees, the program will address the strategic goal to be more inclusive through outreach to new groups. We also envision that having the workshop as a pre-conference activity will give participants the opportunity to employ the networking skills they learn at the meetings throughout the meetings and thus enhance the AAEA Annual Meeting.
We are aiming for 20 mentor-mentee pairs to participate in the pre-conference workshop and subsequent year-long mentoring program
