W. Burt Sundquist

Dr. Sundquist has provided more than four decades of leadership and service to the profession. He made significant contributions to the literature on evaluating agricultural research and productivity, led some of the early research on the economics of biotechnology, and wrote extensively on the changing structure of agriculture.

He served on the AAEA Executive Board and two terms on the AAEA Foundation Governing Board. He also contributed to the profession's leadership through his administrative positions as head of the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics at the University of Minnesota, director of the Farm Production Economics Division of the USDA's Economic Research Service, and deputy administrator of the USDA ERS.

He has been a long-standing proponent of regional research and chaired several regional research projects over his career. He is the 1992 co-recipient of the AAEA Quality of Communication Award.
