Ernest Bazen is an Assistant Professor of Agricultural Economics at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. His primary areas of focus are Farm Management and Environmental Economics. He entered Texas A&M University in 1986 and received a B.S. in Agribusiness in 1990 and an M.S. in Agricultural Economics in 1991 from Sam Houston State University. He spent eight years in private industry as owner of an equipment rental business and sold his business to a local competitor in 1998. He received a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics in 2002 from the University of Kentucky.

Dr. Bazen joined the University of Tennessee faculty in January, 2002. His current research and teaching program involves (1) analyzing the impact of various farm management strategies on the level of risk and the potential for water quality degradation; (2) evaluating livestock manure management technologies and policies on farm level profits; and (3) evaluating the risk-return tradeoffs of various crop rotations and specific cropping practices.
