Meeting Information
During the AAEA Annual Meetings several events take place that are similar from year to year. Here is a list of the common events:
Pre Conference Workshops
Each year the AAEA has a set of Pre-Conference Workshops that are beneficial to gradutate students. Ocassionally some Pre-Conference Workshops offer travel grants for graduate students.
AAEA Annual Meeting Employment Center
The AAEA Employment Center is the perfect opportunity for employers and job seekers to connect at the annual meeting. Employers can schedule interviews with recent master's and doctoral graduates and individuals already in the workforce. The center attracts more than 40 universities, government agencies and industry employers who are looking for quality candidates in the agricultural economics field.
Stay tuned for information regarding the 2009 AAEA Employment Center.
Want to help at the registration booth in exchange for your annual meetings registration?
The AAEA requests volunteer graduate student members at every AAEA Annual Meeting to help man the AAEA Registration Desk and the Employment Center area throughout the meeting.
Each graduate student receives a FREE meeting registration in exchange for eight hours of volunteer help. The hours must be "donated" in four-hour time blocks.
This is an excellent chance for you to network with agricultural economics professionals, as well as prospective employers. The link below is a letter for interested students to complete and return by May 31. A tentative "shift schedule" will be drafted and available by June 30.
Please contact Adam DeMarie (adam@aaea.org) with questions or concerns.
Thank you for your time and support!
AAEA Meeting Travel Grants
The AAEA Foundation seeks applicants for Graduate Student Travel Grants.
These grants (up to $300) are to defray housing and transportation costs associated with attending the AAEA Annual Meeting.
Students in an agricultural economics graduate program at a U.S. college or university are eligible. Women and minorities are especially encouraged to apply.
Applications should be forwarded through the institution's department head, with a limit of two applications per institution.
Applications are due May 1 and ask for general information, a proposed budget, and the student's plans for the upcoming meetings.
