A Message from AAEA President Robert P. King

See You in Seattle
Plans and preparations for our annual meeting in Seattle (August 12 -14) are progressing well. We have a terrific venue. The Washington State Convention Center will be the site for most of our meeting activities. It’s located downtown, just a few blocks from the three hotels offering discounted room rates and within easy walking distance of attractions like the Pike Place Market and the Seattle Waterfront.More important than the venue, however, is the great program we are offering. I’m especially excited about the four invited presentations that will be featured in plenary sessions. The meeting will open Sunday evening with a Keynote address by Hal Varian, Chief Economist for Google and Professor Emeritus at the University of California, Berkeley in departments of business, economics, and information management. His talk on “Predicting the Present with Search Engine Data” will focus on how real time information such as Google search data can be used to assess economic and commercial conditions. Read more >>
