Orientation The Academic Bowl Orientation consisting of a rules meeting and orientation for the Academic Bowl and is on Sunday at 5:30 p.m.
SS-AAEA Business Meeting The Student Section business meeting is Monday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The business meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss and vote on any proposed constitutional changes and to elect new officers.
Buffet and Business Meeting There is a Student Section buffet dinner on Monday after the business meeting from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. There is no cost for this event. Students also are welcome to attend the AAEA General Reception afterwards. Be sure to indicate attendance at the General Reception on your conference registration form.
CWAE Recruitment Fair
The CWAE Recruitment Fair begins on Monday at 9:00 a.m. and runs until noon. Industry and university representatives will help undergraduate students learn more about their options after their university careers are complete. Professionals from academics, government and industry will be available to answer individual student's questions about career or academic choices.
Academic Bowl Competition
This competition offers students an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skill by answering questions in a number of agricultural economics areas in a Jeopardy style game scenario. Round one begins at 8:00 a.m. Monday, round two on Tuesday, and the final round takes place at the beginning of the awards ceremony on Wednesday evening. The first place team receives $500! First, second, and third place winning teams will be recognized at the AAEA Awards ceremony.
Paper Session Competition
The Undergraduate Paper Competition provides an opportunity for undergraduate students to present papers on numerous topics in agricultural economics. Paper competition begins on Monday at 8:00 a.m. The top paper and second through fifth place abstracts are published in the SS-AAEA Journal and published on the SS-AAEA Web page. The author of the first-place paper receives $200!
SS-AAEA Outstanding Chapter Award Chapters compete for a cash award of $200 based on their accomplishments over the year. Chapters are judged on the areas of chapter involvement, guest speakers, club tours, and other information. The winning club showing the greatest involvement and activity during the past school year will be recognized at the AAEA Awards ceremony.
Creative Club Award
Chapters have an opportunity to showcase a unique, creative event to compete for a cash award or $200. The application should be submitted by May 16, 2006. The application must include a summary of the creative idea, its implementation, and results of its implementation. The winning club with the best creative idea will be recognized at the Awards Program.
