Kick-off your 2014 Annual Meeting experience on Sunday, July 27 by participating in the following networking opportunities:

  • Poster Reception

The Poster Reception is making its debut in Minneapolis. Connect with over 200 poster presenters during this hour-long cocktail reception. Then, continue the conversations during the Welcome Reception. Can’t make the Poster Reception on Sunday? New this year, all posters will be on display from Sunday through Tuesday. Poster presenters will be available to discuss their research during the lunch hour on Monday and Tuesday. Presenters who have posters with odd numbers will present on Monday and even poster numbers will present on Tuesday.

Call for Session Moderators

AAEA is seeking volunteers to serve in the moderator role for Selected Paper Presentations at the 2014 Annual Meeting. Building on the Culture of Engagement discussed in AAEA President, Julie Caswell’s recent column in The Exchange, we are seeking moderators who will be actively engaged in fostering discussion during their session. In addition to keeping the session on schedule (15 minutes per presentation, followed by 5 minutes for discussion), moderators should come prepared with questions for each presenter.

If you are interested in serving as a moderator, please contact the AAEA Business Office at info@aaea.org or check the “I am willing to serve a Moderator” box located on the Annual Meeting registration form.


Invited Paper Sessions

There are six compelling Invited Paper Sessions taking place at the 2014 Annual Meeting. Topics include:

  • “Transforming Food Markets – Implications for Nutrition and Livelihoods in Developing Countries”
  • “What will it take to get Energy Crops off the Ground: Land Use Subsidies, Price Subsidies, and Crop Insurance?”
  • “Methodological Developments and Challenges in Choice Experiments”
  • “Cost Effective and Ecologically Effective Land Protection for Nature Conservation”
  • “Adapting to Climate Change: Water Resources, Extreme Weather Events, and Agricultural Sustainability”

Travel Grants for Early Career Professionals and Graduate Students

The AAEA Trust seeks applications for Early Career Professional and Graduate Student Travel Grants. These grants defray housing and transportation costs associated with attending the 2014 AAEA Annual Meeting in Minneapolis, MN July 27-29, 2014. Up to $400 will be awarded to each applicant, based on professional merit, financial need, and expected active participation in the Annual Meeting. Deadline for application submission is April 7, 2014.
