Organized Symposia Call for Proposals

AAEA seeks submissions for Organized Symposia for the 2010 AAEA, CAES, & WAEA Joint Annual Meeting in Denver. Proposals need to be received by January 18, 2010, and should be submitted using AAEA’s online abstract submission system. Material previously presented cannot be accepted, and proposals should state explicitly that the material has not been presented elsewhere.

Organized Symposium sessions highlight ideas or works-in-progress on a topic involving cooperative or competing efforts by two or more panelists. Symposia may involve panel discussions of prepared questions, debates, roundtable meetings, or other formats. Formal paper presentations are usually not encouraged. If such presentations are proposed, the organizer should explain how they will fit into a tightly coherent theme. In any event, at least half of the session time should be reserved for discussion among the panelists and between the panelists and the audience.

Symposia may offer discussions of policy issues, research methods, emerging research results, teaching or outreach topics, issues in professional organization, or other matters.

At least one author must be a member of AAEA, and all presenters, speakers, and/or discussants at the Joint Annual Meeting must be a member of AAEA and registered for the Joint Annual Meeting.

Notification of whether a proposal has been accepted will be sent by mid-March, or as soon as possible thereafter.

In order to submit an Organized Symposia proposal to the 2010 Joint Annual Meeting, you’ll need to be a 2010 AAEA member, or pay a non-refundable $25 submission fee.
