Glenn
L. Johnson
Dr.
Johnson's co-authored a widely used undergraduate textbook in farm
management and is noted for his extensive research relating to farm
management, national agricultural policy and economic development
in less-developed countries. Dr. Johnson received his bachelor's
degree from the University of Illinois, his master's degree from
Michigan State University and his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.
He returned to Michigan State in 1953 as a member of the faculty
in Agricultural Economics. He was a recipient of the 1966 Distinguished
Faculty Award at Michigan State, the highest award given by the
University.
He
served as vice-president of the American Farm Economic Association
in 1962 and won that association's award for the best published
research in 1952 and 1958. He was the first director of the Economic
Development Institute of the University of Nigeria and served as
a consultant to the Ford and Rockefeller Foundations, in addition
to numerous other public and private organizations concerned with
domestic and foreign economic development. He was named a fellow
of the AAEA in 1970.
