AAEA Offers Two Events in DC for those in the Job Market

Employer Showcase

New this year, AAEA is holding an Employer Showcase to highlight employers that AAEA members and meeting attendees may be interested in. This is a one day event taking place on Sunday, August 4, 11:00am-3:00pm, in the Employment Center room (Exhibit Hall B South). Registration as an employer is free, and all joint annual meeting attendees are welcome to attend. Additionally, a professional photographer will be on-site offering free professional headshots to meeting attendees.

Employers can click here to sign up for this free event.

Annual Meeting Employment Center

The Employment Center is an online and on-site resource that provides a great opportunity for highly qualified job seekers and employers to connect while on-site at the 2013 Annual Meeting. Employers will enjoy access to numerous individuals with a Master’s degree or higher in the fields of agricultural and applied economics. Job seekers will have the opportunity to network with a number of employers conveniently while in DC. The 2013 Employment Center will take place Monday and Tuesday, August 5-6, in Exhibit Hall B South.

The Annual Meeting Employment Center is an opportunity for employers and applicants to discuss specific open positions. After registering for the Employment Center, applicants will have access to all of the open positions submitted by registered employers, and employers will have access to the employment information of each applicant.

Based on this information, employers and applicants can connect regarding a specific position. Then, they are encouraged to schedule an interview to take place at the on-site Employment Center at the Annual Meeting to discuss the position.

Employers will have the option to reserve a table for conducting on-site interviews for $450, or to use the unreserved tables on a first come, first served basis at a rate of $400. All employers will have access to the applicant information through the online Employment Center.

Registration is $25 for applicants. On-site registration is an option, but waiting until then could limit the number of interviews that an applicant is able to schedule.

For more information and to register, please visit the Employment Center page of the Joint Annual Meeting website. If you have any questions about the Employment Center, please contact Sarah Kenner at skenner@aaea.org.
