Registration and Housing
Registration for the 2007 Joint Annual Meeting is required to participate.

Undergraduate Student Section

The Student Section of the American Agricultural Economics Association invites all undergraduates to attend and participate in the 2007 Annual Meeting activities in Portland, Oregon, July 29 through August 1.

Undergraduate Student Competitions

Paper
The Undergraduate Paper Competition on Monday, July 30, provides an opportunity for undergraduate students to present papers related to agricultural economics, agribusiness, natural resources, or environmental economics. The top paper and second through fifth place abstracts are published in the SS-AAEA Journal. The author of the first place paper receives $200. The deadline to submit a Statement of Intent is May 15, 2007. Complete papers should be submitted by June 15, 2007. For details and requirements for participation refer to the SS-AAEA Handbook.

Academic Bowl
This competition offers students an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skill by answering questions in a number of agricultural economics areas in a competitive, team-based competition. The first place team receives $500. A rules meeting and orientation for the Academic Bowl sponsored by the AAEA Foundation and FAST/FARMDOC will be held on Sunday, July 29, 2007, at 6 pm. Competition begins at 8 am on Monday, July 30. The finals will take place Tuesday, July 31 at 5:15 pm. The deadline to register is May 15, 2007. Outstanding Chapter
Chapters compete for a cash award of $200 based on their accomplishments from the last year. The application should be completed and returned by May 15, 2007. The application includes areas of chapter involvement, guest speakers, club tours and other information. The winning club that has shown the greatest involvement and activity during the past school year will be recognized at the Awards Program. Creative Club
Chapters have an opportunity to showcase a unique, creative event to compete for a plaque and cash award of $200. The application should be submitted by May 15, 2007. The application must include a summary of the creative idea, its implementation and results of its implementation. During the business meeting, members will vote for the best Creative Idea. The winning club with the best creative idea will be recognized at the Awards Program. For details and requirements for submission refer to the SS-AAEA Handbook.

Entry Forms
Entry forms and rules for the Paper, Academic Bowl, Outstanding Chapter, and Creative Club competitions are included in the 2007 SS-AAEA Handbook. Forms should be returned by the deadline to the AAEA Office with the appropriate fees. SS-AAEA Business Meeting and Dinner
The SS-AAEA Business Meeting is scheduled for 6 pm and Dinner at 7 pm on Monday, July 30. At the meeting, undergraduate students will elect new officers and discuss and vote on several proposed constitutional changes.

Undergraduate Recruitment Fair
Employers and departments will be on hand during the Undergraduate Academic Bowl competition on Monday, July 30 from 8 am - 6 pm to talk with interested students. Please join them as you have free time during the competition.

Graduate Student Section

Graduate Student Business Meeting and Reception
The Graduate Student Section also will hold its annual business meeting and reception for all graduate students on Sunday afternoon, July 29. You can sign up for both the case study competition and business meeting on the registration form.

Graduate Student Case Study Competition
The Graduate Student Section will host the 10th Annual Case Study Competition sponsored by the Farm Foundation and the USDA-Agricultural Marketing Service, on Sunday and Monday, July 29-30, with the winning team honored at the Industry Banquet on Monday evening. Graduate Student Workers Needed

The AAEA Business Office needs your help at the Annual Meeting in Portland, Oregon, specifically at the Registration Desk and the Employment Center. Graduate Student members who work for eight hours will receive a FREE meeting registration in exchange for their help. If you are a Graduate Student member of AAEA and willing to provide two four-hour blocks of time, please complete the application form. You must still register and pay for the Annual Meeting. After you work the required hours on-site, your registration will be refunded after the Annual Meeting. The deadline for applications is June 1, 2007.
